Hi, my name is Leo. I’m the father of 2 young boys. I’m also a son to my parents and in-laws.
There are 2 reasons why I started this site:
First, I want my kids to learn from my mistakes, to guide them, and to watch them grow into capable men.
I want to prepare them to deal with the ups and downs of life in a productive way. To make them strong both mentally and physically.
Turns out, this is what gets me out of bed every morning and guides almost all of my decisions. It’s the strongest motivator I’ve ever found.
Second, I want to repay the infinite kindness from my parents and in-laws. They sacrificed so much and worked so hard.I know my parents did the best they could with the info they had at the time.
It’s time to return the favor and teach my children to do the same.
Looking back, I’ve made a lot of mistakes and there are a lot of things I would change. The funny thing is, I only have a little bit of regret.
Why? My experiences both positive and negative have made me who I am.
Now is my chance to be the guide, the wise old man in my kids’ story. Except I don’t have magic. I have research (past, present, and future) along with experience from me and others.
In pursuit of these goals, I’ve been doing a lot of research and taken a lot of notes. Some of the articles on this site originally lived in my OneNote workbook. After speaking with some friends, we figured that it would be helpful to share what we’ve found with as many people as possible.
This way, we can all grow together.
The Goal Of Optimized Family
To improve and upgrade ourselves and our families by researching, experimenting, and providing in-depth, actionable parenting & caregiving resources.
We’ll be using as much science, research, and data as possible to make decisions and form opinions.
According to the California Department of Education, the first 5 years are the most important years of a child’s life. But it doesn’t end there. Every experience and every interaction has a chance to be a positive or negative influence.
My job as a parent is to give my children the tools and guidance to make smart decisions, maintain the right attitude, and learn from everything good or bad.
By 2030, the United States Census Bureau estimates that all baby boomers will be older than 65. This means that older people will outnumber younger people for the first time in U.S. history.
My job as a son is to take care of my parents and other relatives – the ones who helped raise me.
What Will You Get From This Site
You will get well researched, actionable parenting & care-giving guides, tips, and hacks. I’m using most of these resources in my own quest to be a better person.
I hope these resources will help you become a better parent to your children and a better son/daughter to your parents.
