By  Cheryl Jerabek

Twelve-year-old science buff, Elijah, became fascinated with science over ten years ago when he was introduced to science books for toddlers that captured his attention and ignited a passion. "Science rocks!" is his motto.

That early childhood spark has led Elijah to enter numerous science fairs where he has won several first place ribbons and honorable mentions too. He also enjoys conducting experiments on his own and soaking up all he can about science.

Best Science Books for Toddlers

We have sifted through the online library shelves to find the best science books for toddlers to help ensure your child's initial impression of science is a good one. They are as follows:

ABC Science Book

"ABC Science Book" is a STEAM-based learning book for toddlers up to the age of three that takes the innovative approach of using the ABC's to introduce science. Through vibrant images and inspiration from the alphabet, the wonderful world of science is explored - from astronomy to zoology. Your youngster will learn about science concepts as well as scientific careers that correspond to each alphabet letter.

We love this book because it creatively employs the use of STEAM education. STEAM is a unique approach to teaching subjects like science, the arts, math, technology, and engineering. The method opens the door to nurture curiosity and develop skills such as critical thinking.

Another wonderful positive about the "ABC Science Book" is that it grows with your little one. In the beginning, the alphabets are the main focus. Words are the next focus. But as time goes on, your toddler will be able to ace the alphabets and words and graduate to understanding the actual scientific concepts.

This book is written by Anjali Joshi, a real-life science teacher, and researcher of K-8 STEM education. Joshi does a fine job of making the toddler literature easy and interesting and for that...she gets an A+ on our test score.

There's No Place Like Space: All About Our Solar System

"There's No Place Like Space: All About Our Solar System" is a delightful Children's Astronomy Book that's ideal for toddlers. Written by talented author Tish Rabe, the style and characters are in keeping with the Dr. Seuss Cat in the Hat books which have captivated young children for decades. With whimsical illustrations (by Aristides Ruiz) and fun rhyming lines, the eight planets are creatively explored in this best-seller.

We love this masterpiece book because it is very appropriate for toddlers. After all, it is overwhelmingly successful at keeping their attention. It is also suitable for beginner readers too though, so it will be a hit for years to come.

Accompanied by the quirky Cat in the Hat, it's easy for little ones to picture this entertaining wild ride to space which is key to introducing astronomy as a fun and interesting science. We vote that this great science book for toddlers is simply out of this world!
